Varilux® Progressive Lenses offer our patients the ability to see clearly both near and far without the typical uncomfortable “jump” in vision that occurs with traditional bifocal lenses. As the eyes age, they tend to develop presbyopia, a normal age-related loss in the ability to easily focus between various vision ranges. At this time, patients may consider a bifocal lens to assist with improving near and far vision. However, bifocals do nothing to improve the quality of vision at arm’s length, leaving a potentially dangerous gap in the field of vision.
Fortunately, our patients no longer have to deal with the dangerous “vision gap” and the disorienting effect that a bifocal lens can create. Varilux® lenses are known as “progressive” lenses. These progressive lenses enable our patients to see clearly at ALL distances. Varilux® lenses appear clear throughout the entire lens and do not have the unattractive visible half-moon line that can be distracting to both the patient as well as family and friends. Unlike bifocals, Varilux® progressive lenses allow you to continue to experience clear, comfortable, more natural vision at all distances after age 40.
Williamstown Eye Clinic offers Transitions® Photochromic Lenses as a comfortable and practical option for our patients who enjoy the convenience of wearing one pair of prescription eyeglasses both indoors and out. Transitions® lenses adjust to automatically recalibrate from various shades of clear to dark when exposed to UV rays. For the best and clearest vision whether indoors, driving, under cloud cover, or full sun, consider Transitions® lenses. Anti-glare and anti-reflective coating can also be added to these adaptive lenses for the ultimate in comfort and clear vision in all light conditions.
